Anti AGING FIGHT with Panasonic Ion Effector EH-ST51

Approximately half a year ago, iwannabelenglui made a purchase for preventing tell tale signs of AGING... lol... On second thought... it was more of a sudden enlightenment to get a Japanese advertised device which will force your moisturizer and serum into the lower epidermis of the skin. Oh whatever that actually meant...

If you have heard for Hitachi Hada Crie, we think the Panasonic Ion Effector EH-ST51P functions almost similarly... except for the shape of the facial plate that touches our skin. Watch the video on how easy it is for plate to reach the corners of our eyes and nose because of the perfect upside-down triangular shape...

Some Japanese video explaining the importance of the plate design --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpbc04zKKLk

We did a comparison with Hada Crie and decided to go with the Panasonic one because it looks way cuter!! muahahahhaa... okay-okay... decision made was because of the shape of the ion plate.

Conclusion

  • Could not see much effect on the efficacy of serums which supposedly should have absorbed better into facial skin (okay, maybe its only 6 months of usage)
  • But the cleaning part showed some visible effect... the cleaning cotton turned yellowish when used with the Ion Effector device even after washing with a 2 in 1 facial wash which claims to remove light makeup... Hmm... so much for skipping the double cleansing
  • If we do not use the heating function often... once charge lasts like forever
  • The heating function is pretty comfy... except that iwannabelenglui is located right smack in a tropical climate which is hot all year round!
  • The shape of the plate is just perfect! (worth the research effort when trying to compare with similar other device)

Should you get one?

  • No if you are still young and taking relatively good care of your skin
  • Yes if you have the additional cash to splurge and having skin with difficulty absorbing any form of skincare (or just feeling relatively paranoid about aging skin)
  • Lengluis who are more hardcore, check out the Panasonic Ion Effector EH-ST63 (with help of any Vit-C absorption for skin brightening)

Give me a perfect blowout - KeraShine heated styling brush HP8632

Saloon perfect hair in minutes!!

We all feel that pain when we try to emulate how the experts at the saloon style us by blow drying our hair. Somehow having a great blowout is not as simple as it looks.

Usual issues faced:

  1. Hair gets sucked into the blow dry brush... yeowch....
  2. Hair is already dried, if we apply more hairdryer heat to it, oh-our-poor tresses...
  3. Somehow, it takes ages to get that blowout perfect
  4. When we blow dry our hair for too long, it tends to get dry and frizzy... even if we've applied the heat-protection serum before the blow drying starts
  5. Our arm hurts just staying there holding the hairdryer and huge round bush for too long
  6. No way this is going to be a daily routine for us average lengluis (once in a blue-moon for a special night out and that is it... thank you!)

So how now?? How do these lengluis we see with bouncing perfect volume blow dried hair maintain that near-perfect tresses DAILY?

Somehow, Philips just decided to be smart... and threw us an answer in the form of KeraShine heated styling brush HP8632.. Suddenly we feel like an advert for Philips... lol... no we are not..

The Pros:

  • This will give you that blowout saloon experts achieve with the hairdryer and a big round brush
  • This works only for dried hair
  • A neat gadget when you do not want overly styled hair
  • Want bouncy saloon perfect hair? 5 to 10 minutes is all you need!
  • Saves us time and $$$ while we get to pretend we just got out of the saloon
  • You can shake out your hair like those models in the shampoo adverts now... hahahahaha.. in the comforts of your home

The Cons:

  • Somehow, one or two strands of hair tends to catch into the groove between the heated barrel and the holder.. ouch... although a minor thing lets hope Philips fixes this for the next model..
  • Heat styling is never good for your hair.. so like blow drying, apply some heat protective serum before styling
  • Careful.. the plastic brush protect us from the usual burns we get when skin touches a normal hair tong... but a lack-of-sleep lenglui might forget that the brush is retractable and you CAN get burned if not careful! duh...

Tips:

  • Go load some youtube vids on how-to-style your hair for the perfect blowout
  • Yes, you will see vids of lengluis using a hair dryer and a round brush on towel dried hair... but... you can emulate this with just this device on your fully dried hair

Panasonic Facial Roller Eh-SP30 Vs Refa Pro/Carat Platinum Electronic Roller

Oh the damned many choices of Facial Rollers!!

Remember iwannabelenglui's recent post on PANASONIC Esthetic Facial Roller EH-SP30? And yes, before putting that as one of her wishlist item, there was that consideration on the the Refa Pro/Carat Platinum Electronic Roller that promises almost the same result of the Panasonic roller.

Just do a little Google and that's it.... we're SOLD! muahahahahhaa... Oh well..

The differences:
  • The Brand
  • The physics and scientific theory behind them: "How it works?"
  • The PRICE - Refa rollers costs a whopping RM1.2k
  • The publicity and popularity
  • The usage - Refa's multi-functioned
Before the Refa roller goes on iwananbelenglui's the wishlist item for 2013, lets do some reality check, more research, have some patience and drool over the pics above and below... LOL.... Heck, a pricier tool does not mean a better tool...

Mermaid Hair in Minutes... Tsuyagla Wave!

If you've ever watched those repetitive tv shopping ads... you'd understand why... (Click on the pic to the vid below)

Yeah... they're similar to Babyliss Wave Envy, but... it seems like Tsuyagla Wave wins tops... Perhaps 'cos their barrels are larger (32mm) so they create less crimpy looking waves and more beachy looking waves... Or just because... THE TOOL IS JUST SUPER GIRLY LOOKING!!! Uh-huh, although... these are not for lengluis who are anti-PINK... BUT... Mermaid waves are just so romantic right now!!

Oh... see reviews below of lengluis who've somehow managed to get hold on one of these! Currently only available to the Japanese market... All the more challenge getting one of these now that they are hot off the shelves... Muahahahahaaa...

Cheap-Ass Tools to a Busy Lenglui's Happy Bath Time!!

Some lengluis find bathing a routine hassle for hygine so they do it as squeek quick as possible, whereas some lengluis spend ages in the bath scrubba-do-do and they literally take FO----RE----VER... (--)"

For the busy lengluis... I'm pretty sure we should be neither... LOL... Bath times should really be the ultimate relaxing beauty moments for all lengluis busy-or-not...

A few rules-of-thumb to go by:

Now... to the POINT -> The 5 Cheap-Ass Bath Tools:

1. The Shampoo Brush (RM5)
Use it like a comb with your conditioner for de-tangling that long thick hair. Doubles up as a head massager with head spa... Definitely not for lengluis with easy-to-break-fragile hair.

2. Bubble Bath Nett (RM5)
Helps lather up your soap/shower gel for a nice bubbly wash all over... bubbly-bubbly wash....

3. Cellulite/Body Massager (RM5)
Sure... after a long busy day... the last thing on a lenglui's mind would be exerting more energy to do massaging. But hey... body massagers can feel pretty good during a shower if used with a nice shower lather.

4. Silicone Facial Cleansing Pad (RM5)
Helps with cleaning away residues of makeup so we don't need to double or tripple the facial wash routine. They help lather up your facial wash nicely too!

5. The Foot File (RM3)
Oh.... simple brushing strokes on the balls of our feet would feel pretty nice during and after bath time. Of course then you'd have smooth feet after... hohoho...

IMPORTANT NOTE:
There are a whole load more other tools of course but hey... we want cheap ass tools that don't make us spend too much time in the shower... If you're a lenglui with ultra-thin-sensitive skin, please avoid these tools and be sure to install a shower filter. (^o^)

A lash/brow lifetime investment - Preri Wonder Styling Eyelash Comb

It's a New Year... 2011 marks goodbye to old cosmetics and... so I went on a RM1K cosmetic spree... I need to slap myself awake now... Crazy women... Heck... (--)" One of this year's resolution is to be a smarter consumer and spend less (the C cup resolution remains there every year even though not much progress lately... muahahaha)

And here I am, writing a post that is nothing on any of the cosmetics that went into the splurge.... (Though umm... part of the new splurge included really nice signature products from cosmetic household names like Averine compact smoothing powder, Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, Kate pore concealer, Shu Uemura. make up base mouse.. huhuhuhu..)

Spent several days looking at the new stash and decided... Aww... I really need to blog about this little cute-sie that's been sitting in my conman-toolbox. No, this again is not a cosmetic review... lol... Introducing the Preri Wonder Styling Eyelash Comb!!

Why am I reviewing a lash comb that costs a whopping RM50)?
  • Metal lash combs are really much much nicer to use compared with plastic ones (you only need one eyelash comb in your whole lifetime.. so trust me... get a good one)
  • The gap between the comb teeth are much narrower so it separates hairs evenly without removing too much of the mascara fibers
  • But easy enough to clean (stainless steel teeth)
  • Foldaway feature makes this travel friendly (folds to the length of my middle finger... lol)
  • There are 2 sides to this lash comb, the wider width for upper lashes and trimming eyebrows, the smaller one for lower lashes
  • Comb teeth are very slim so it makes eyebrow trimming a more relaxed task
  • A couple of other good brands carry this same comb, but the "Made in Japan" ones are of real nice quality... The Japs hit the nail right on yet again!
  • If you think this is too much to pay for a lash comb, I saw the non foldaway ones in SaSa for about RM29...
  • The teeth are pretty sharp... so umm... be careful not to poke your eyes with it! ...or you can use this as self-defense... hahahahhaha...
Someday... I'll need to try and do some reviews on my crazy conman stash... Still... every lenglui has her fav cosmetic secret to share. So ask Uncle Google and he'll spill the ton of makeup reviews for you! (^o^)

The Nose Shaper...

Reshape your nose... No surgery involved!

Yes, this is one of the craziest thing I actually bought. Given the fact that my nose already looks fine, there's no point in getting this? No?

Asian daughters have gone through a stage where their mothers will tell them... "If you pinch your nose often enough, you will grow up with a sharp pretty nose"... (^^) Know what? They have a point there! That's how this whole nose-shaper thing came about...

See below on how to use this...

pic credit to http://nexus404.com/Blog/2006/10/23/curious-gadget1/

Conclusion:
No. It does nothing to give you sharp pretty nose.. not unless you're still a growing kid and your skin and bone structure is still shaping...

You can have it on for hours till your nose get those red pinch marks on the sides. But.... your nose is going to bounce back to its original shape when you start rubbing it or sneezing or breathe hard enough. NO. YOU WILL NOT GET A PRETTY NOSE JUST BY CLIPPING IT.

Stupid as it sounds... I still went ahead to purchase it from "Shins". Heck... its only RM6 and... I just had to. I mean... In the end... its all in the mind. In those rare ultimately bored moments I'll just clip my nose for about 3mins... in hopes that its doing something... good to my nose.. yeah... crazy women.

Philips Ceramic Hair Straigthener (HP4647)

Poker Straight Hair in 5 Mins!! (For my hair anyway... lol)

pic credit to http://www.shavers.co.uk/shopping.php?product_id=367

I have a couple of straighteners. Yeah... don't ask me why am I stocking up on stuff that you only need one of. But..... This is a straightener worth commenting on because... it actually lets me do my hair in 5 mins tops. Again I've got to say this... I've got thick amount of hair... and, it takes ages to straighten my hair with a normal size straightener. This... is HUGE for a DIY-hair tool! Yeah... but huge comes with a good-point... You can clamp lots more hair at one go... hahahahaha... Good point huh?

Conclusion:
  • Good for thick hair or girls with lots of hair cos' its clamps are HUGE!
  • Easy to use clamping
  • It has temperature control... (WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT IN ANY HAIR STYLING TOOL)
  • Ceramic plates causes less damage to hair
  • Please remember to add a protection serum on your hair before using high temperature directly on hair
  • Do not use on wet hair if you don't want to damage your hair... duh... There was this time when I had damp towel-dried hair... and... during straightening, I can hear water fizzling and hot water vapor evaporating from hair... uh-huh...
  • It really doesn't matter what brand of straighteners you buy but... do get one with temperature control, huge ironning plates if you're always in a hurry and a straightener with ceramic plates. Don't go for those styling tools that come in a package with interchangeable style tool if you are serious about straightening your hair. I know they are more worth the buy but... from experience, they don't work as well.

BaByliss Pro Ceramic Curling Iron

Curly Hair Days

Above, is the pic of my curling iron. Yes, it's from BaByliss and it costs a bomb RM200. I know there are way lots of cheaper curling thongs out there RM20-RM100... But... I'll tell you why I bought this even though I've got more than one curling irons and they costs less than half the price of this. And no.. I didn't buy those "pasar malam" type. I bought irons with reputable brands... Unfortunately... they seem to only behave on thinner hair.

Reason why I bought this:
  • My hair is thick... and trust me.. cheaper curling irons... they don't work as well on thick hair. You'll end up in front of the mirror whole day waiting for the iron to heat your hair up...
  • This iron has temperature control which is one of the most important thing I think you need in any styling tool (except for hair dryers). In different condition, your hair is going to react differently to your iron temperature...
  • Its got a swivel cord which makes sure I don't get tangled cords while curling my hair.. Most irons have got swivel cords now... Must be too many people getting tangled up...
  • I got fed-up of mini styling tools that take too much time to perform
  • For steps on curling your hair... go Google.. there are just too many blogs and DIY vid tips on that
The key thing to getting perfectly styles hair is.... PRACTICE-PRACTICE-PRACTICE.... There was once upon a time where I'll curl my hair everyday before I go to work. And now... it only takes me 10-15 mins tops to curl my hair. A huge change from the more than an hour days to style my hair... (--)"
