Lunasol UnderEye Concealer - Fake it with zero make-up skill....!!

Trust me lengluis... as we age, the eye area craves attention! And not the good sort of attention though... These days, working late means darkened surrounding eye area. Though sugar_cupcakes never had a problem with the eye area, aging another year has totally changed that!!! SOB-SOB-SOBBBBBB... haihhhhhhhhhhh...

Yeah... faking younger eyes takes all that skill... huhuhuhu... soon all this faking is going to turn into a HIDDEN TALENT of us lengluis... muahahahaha...

This will not be a lengthy review on eye concealers (you can ask Uncle Google that anytime) rather, a straight-to-the-point winner takes all review. (umm... sugar_cupcakes will only do a comparison of make-up which requires almost no make-up skill to apply since this is not exactly a make-up blog...)

Kanebo Lunasol Eye Concealer is a very obvious winner of the lot. Yeah, Shu Uemura ProGel Concealer has "staying power" it's not as comfortable as... Lunasol which tops the lot because:

  1. Its similar to a lip gloss applicator and picks up just the right amount of liquid-y fluid for under the eyes so  the teeny weeny tube actually lasts
  2. Coverage about 90% after dusting with loose powder
  3. Claims to contain collagen for the feel-good texture under the eyes
  4. Because its so easy to use, its takes a lengui with like only 0% makeup skill to be able to use this like a pro
  5. This was a mere accidental find after embarking on the journey to hide the late hours under-eye area
  6. See more lenglui's reviews here: http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=106016/LUNASOL_Under_Eyes_Base/Kanebo/Concealers

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye - Younger eyes by morning?

Recently the eye area's been bugging for attention... SEE ME SEE ME!!! Sigh.... you know how it gets... With every year, forget about getting mature and wiser... sugar_cupcakes refuse to let our eyes speak our age...! Lengluis should never have to let the eyes tell how old we are... (--)" With the never was there dark under-eye area and the never were there puffy starting to inflate baggy looking eyes.... uh-huh.... the horror symptoms are all starting to SHOW!! O-M-G..................

And with all my previous adventures of eye creams and the under-eye dark circle Uncle Google research... Some hope came about with Kiehl's aid for the eyes... with so many positive reviews on this from this.... YESSSSSssssss............

Product Information:
  • Read about it here (Kiehl's product site)
  • Retails at RM150 in KL Kiehl's outlet
  • Smells faintly of lavender....
  • Not too heavy but feels like there's a thin coat of protection on the delicate skin
  • Feels comforting on the eye area

Conclusion:
  • I'm definitely taken! (Compared with the other tried-tested-okay-but-not-wow products)
  • Within days the eye area looks healthier (I used it twice a day even though its supposedly for night use... hahahahhaa... you'd think the more you use it the better the effects, LOL....)
  • Umm... some minimal under-eye darkened area still remains... no miracles there...
  • But... puffiness definitely reduced! wooooooohooooooo!!!
  • Duh... RM150 investment (its a tiny tube but you only need so little with each application) for such a good-feel product.... ITS ALL GOOD.....

A lash/brow lifetime investment - Preri Wonder Styling Eyelash Comb

It's a New Year... 2011 marks goodbye to old cosmetics and... so I went on a RM1K cosmetic spree... I need to slap myself awake now... Crazy women... Heck... (--)" One of this year's resolution is to be a smarter consumer and spend less (the C cup resolution remains there every year even though not much progress lately... muahahaha)

And here I am, writing a post that is nothing on any of the cosmetics that went into the splurge.... (Though umm... part of the new splurge included really nice signature products from cosmetic household names like Averine compact smoothing powder, Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, Kate pore concealer, Shu Uemura. make up base mouse.. huhuhuhu..)

Spent several days looking at the new stash and decided... Aww... I really need to blog about this little cute-sie that's been sitting in my conman-toolbox. No, this again is not a cosmetic review... lol... Introducing the Preri Wonder Styling Eyelash Comb!!

Why am I reviewing a lash comb that costs a whopping RM50)?
  • Metal lash combs are really much much nicer to use compared with plastic ones (you only need one eyelash comb in your whole lifetime.. so trust me... get a good one)
  • The gap between the comb teeth are much narrower so it separates hairs evenly without removing too much of the mascara fibers
  • But easy enough to clean (stainless steel teeth)
  • Foldaway feature makes this travel friendly (folds to the length of my middle finger... lol)
  • There are 2 sides to this lash comb, the wider width for upper lashes and trimming eyebrows, the smaller one for lower lashes
  • Comb teeth are very slim so it makes eyebrow trimming a more relaxed task
  • A couple of other good brands carry this same comb, but the "Made in Japan" ones are of real nice quality... The Japs hit the nail right on yet again!
  • If you think this is too much to pay for a lash comb, I saw the non foldaway ones in SaSa for about RM29...
  • The teeth are pretty sharp... so umm... be careful not to poke your eyes with it! ...or you can use this as self-defense... hahahahhaha...
Someday... I'll need to try and do some reviews on my crazy conman stash... Still... every lenglui has her fav cosmetic secret to share. So ask Uncle Google and he'll spill the ton of makeup reviews for you! (^o^)

Pinhole glasses - Spectacle girl savior from prescriptive glasses?

I do wear contacts and glasses. LOL... I treat them as accessories.... Come on, these days if you're addicted to the tv, pc or have a bad habit of reading on your bed with minimal lighting, your eyes are so gonna suffer. So umm... guilty as said for all the mentioned... (--)"

Prescriptive glasses can be annoying when you're trying to look emm... lenglui. So, I'm sure you can't wait to get rid of your glasses... hohoho... (hey, if you have the right design, you'll still be a lenglui with your glasses. Think of the HOT teacher/doctor look... huahuahuahua)

pic credit to http://www.kivaa.blogspot.com/2009/06/me-my-pinhole-glasses.html

So umm, back to topic. A few years back... I noticed this - the pinhole glasses. They were sold pretty expensive in the KL pharmacies back then. But recently, they can be found in Daiso (the RM5 Japanese store). RM5?! LOL... So yeah... I got one, not from Daiso though... cos I got mine way earlier.... but it costs about RM10, still okay-ish. Anyways, they all work the same... in Layman's term, they sort of exercises your eye muscles..

So you thought.... no need for Lasik and still you'll be rid of your glasses soon? Aww... sorry to disappoint lengluis... but...... From lots of research and Googling, I realized... there is no scientific evidence that this will improve your eyesight to the point that you wouldn't need prescriptive glasses. So lengluis, glasses are staying for a while unless you do decide to get Lasik... huhuhuhu...

Couple of links to some info:

Conclusion:
  • After months of using this... I cannot honestly say that my eyesight improved... ceh....
  • But, its still all good cos' it does reduce the strain when I sit hours in front of the PC or TV
  • Feels great 'cos even in yoga you are thought to exercise your eyes
  • There's been loads of reviews on this so just Google if you need to know more
  • I'd say, if you see this in Daiso, give it a try. Its only RM5 and if your eyes frequently feel strained from hours in front of the PC, try this
  • May take some time getting used to... But, you'll be pleasantly surprised when it feels that you could stay on the PC for hours without any strain or headache as compared to your prescriptive glasses
  • Word of caution: this does not replace prescriptive glasses so don't ever walk out in this or drive with it. There's just too many blind spots with the pinhole glasses.

An Update for the Panda-Girls....

The other day I was researching and purchasing stuff for emm... my skin to cope with allergy breakouts.. I've been a long-time fan of Ettusais makeup (They're a makeup line from Shiseido specially formulated for problematic acne-prone skin)... Only... I hardly ever wear makeup when my skin is acting all nice... So yeah... back to the counter...

So then... I was browsing the Ettusais acne whitening line to get rid of my body scars from allergy acne... And that was when.... I was introduced to the much sourced for medicated under-eye concealer! The Ettusais Eye Zone Tinted Colour Essence. Not only does it proves itself as a concealer... its medicated to help dark circle and puffy eyes too! I think this is something every panda-eyed girl is looking for. Something that conceals while claims to medicate your darkened under-eye area. Even the Malaysian Star paper decided to have a short intro on it:
http://thestar.com.my/lifestyle/story.asp?file=/2009/4/2/lifeliving/3568404&sec=lifeliving

On whether or not it helps to eliminate the dark circle... I really do not know since I've only tried the samples. Besides... I don't have a huge problem with darkened eye zone so I don't qualify to blog on this as a dark-circle remedy. Still.... I think its worth the try. Pair this up with the Ettusais Eye Zone Massaging Essence to use for the night. I found many bloggers who raved on this.. but... still none that claims this a miracle cure for dark-cirle and puffy eyes. The search goes on....

Dark Circles - Be gone!! Be gone!! - but heck... its still mysteriously always there

Ah... the never ending battle with dark under-eye circle. Its one thing I'm really not qualified and don't deserve to blog about. Cos' its the one condition that I've not seen any miracle cream or serum working. You can Google for "dark circle" and see how many products and sites that claims to help.. Seriously, they're worth a better read... The only reason I'm blogging on this is because someone asked me too... (--)"

Come on, you seriously don't expect me to tell you that putting tea bags or cold spoons on your eyes are going to make them prettier do you? Maybe they'll help a little... but I certainly didn't see any difference... LOL... Even though I'm blessed with eyes minus the under-eye dark circles... I've been with a friend who's lived with this dreaded problem for ages.. Just mention anything that "might" work.... there! **poof** (--)" she goes and try it...

A couple of years ago... I went with this girl on this crazy dark-circle cure-finding trip. Everyone calls her "panda eyes"... No, we didn't travel around the world in search of the much needed cure... Instead, we did the little stuff that "normal" people do. We bought affordable different eye products to experiment and consulted several beauticians on this matter. As expected, each beautician has a solution. And, each product promises much more than they deliver. Today my good friend still lives with her dark circles... and... A CONCEALER!

So what really causes dark circles? More than often this is hereditary. And... if you're fair skinned, it becomes even more obvious. (ah... but, I've also known darker skin toned people with eczema who has very bad dark circles too) Those horrific dark circles under your eyes are actually caused by "leaky capillaries" and... no cream in the world is going to save you from that. That, we've learn t so far. But... they are too many products out there that claims otherwise. If you really want to know if these products make any difference I think you should checkout this woman's blog. Her blog is dedicated to getting rid of under-eye dark circles MyDarkCirclesBlog and... I think she's a heroine. I mean... she's even blogged about the popular Hylexin-T and blepharoplasty surgery. Heck... surgery sounds like they very much are the only real help!

A couple of affordable easy access stuff I've tried that are worth mentioning (not because they work, but because they're pretty nice to use):
  • L'Occitane Immortelle Eye Balm -> This was a pretty heavy cream for the around eye area. Not sure why, but I liked it. Or perhaps when I was using it... I was possibly dreaming that this will make sure I never grow crow's feet at the sides of my eyes... hahahahaha...
  • Guerlain Issima Perfect White C Whitening Eye Serum -> This was the only eye serum/cream that actually made a little difference to the dark tone under my eyes. Seems to brighten the tone a little.. Then again... maybe not really... But I trust this works best among all the mid-range stuff I've tried. A little caution if you do try this: try avoid getting this into your eyes.. they sting!
  • Eyecon by Benefit -> Another way-too-cute-to-resist stuff by Benefit. This is really light textured and emm... I think kinda like fragrance free... But... no. It doesn't do anything even after a whole jar.

  • Eye Massager -> No. As much as I'd like to buy crazy stuff... I did not buy this.. My dad did! He claims that the sales rep says it'd eliminate your dark circles! LOL.... duuuuuh... of course they'd say that. So yeah... I was on this for a week since my dad kept insisting that I tried it. No, it didn't do anything to the eyes.. But hmm... feels like your eyes are being tapped lightly... and you'll look like you're playing some virtual reality thing... lol...

So in CONCLUSION:

I have not found anything that guarantees to help get rid of your dark circle. If there was... I think my friend would be living a happy "panda free" eye today. So if you do happen to have tried any cream/serum/gunk that work to eliminate all traces of dark circle tone under the eye... TELL ME HERE!!! I think a bunch of ever hopefuls here would be indebted to you for life!!
