Back to Basics - MEIJI Amino Collagen Powder

Remember all iwannabelenglui's posts on collagen drinks? Now its back to basics... The one staple most lengluis over the years have been raving about. And in this post, we are totally agreeing with those raves! LOL

http://www.nattacosme.com/Meiji-Amino-Collagen-200g

After the minions of collagen posts, there will not be a repetition of what collagen does for one. But.... why is iwannabelenglui going back to what other lengluis are consuming?

  • When you're too busy, there is not much time for survey and stocking up... Just stick to a proven product (in other words... lazzyyyyyyy)
  • It sounds more expensive to purchase this brand compared to other collagen products, but really, it is not. Try calculating on the amount you get by the dollar (or RM in Malaysia), researching on the ingredients and the days that amount can last you for
  • Also cos' LOL.... iwannabelenglui is a super enviroment freak. The bottles and packages consumed over the years have to be collected for recycling each time. With MEIJI powdered collagen, you just re-use the can and get the refill packages

Or just ask Ucle Google with the keyword "Meiji Amino Collagen" :p

Conclusion:
Its still all good... Till now people are still questioning iwannabelenglui's AGE! MUAHAHHAHAHA... ssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

Coconut Oil for that Sexy Lenglui!

Oh Sexy Lengluis - to the ever sweet tropic coconut!

When we think of paradise on a sunny beachy day in the tropics.... the first image that pops to mind is "the coconut tree" Oooooooooooh... what a relaxing feeling....

But hey! We ARE in the tropics. Malaysia is a tropical paradise so... coconut oil is easily found everywhere. Now why all of a sudden the craze on coconut oil?? See the links below.... and most of all, it helps reduces belly fat!!! SERIOUSLY?!

  Myths Corrected

Coconut oil has long been a secret to beautiful skin, beautiful hair, beautiful body -- if you are not turned off by the smell... Honestly, the smell is OK (except for cooking certain meals). On your hair, believe it or not, the fragrance is quite sweet and light. Tried and tested by iwannabelenglui. And by this we mean "Virgin Coldpressed and Unrefined Coconut Oil"

Coconut oil has small molecular structure so it easily absorbs into our skin. So forget all that myths on getting greasy skin when applied onto our bodies. Tried and tested by iwannabelenglui --> PASSED OK

Coconut oil is great when used in cooking. And it is one of the best oils to use for cooking because it can withstand high temperatures and still retain all that goodness in the oil. "The fat in coconut oil is largely made up of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA). Unlike other saturated fats, MCFA doesn't heighten cholesterol and it can help to protect against heart disease." --> Okay, for this, we are not too sure because it's still an oil and we would NOT go all crazy and ingest huge amount of it all of a sudden in the name of beauty... wahhahahahaha....

Conclusion
  • Great as hair serum in small amounts (use Extra Virgin Coldpressed Coconut Oil so the fragrance is less intimidating and smells umm... almost delicious)
  • Great as a skin moisturiser 'cos its not as greasy as you'd think... absorbs into skin pretty quick too!
  • Great when used to fry your morning eggs --> you would get that tropical breakfast taste to it
  • Great as a heel moisturiser... TRIED and TESTED
  • Wanna feel like a lenglui wahine? Coconut oil baby!!

DHC Liquid Collagen - Drink to Younger looking skin......

It was near impossible to stick to just the Avalon Collagen Powder when a household name in skincare DHC's Liquid collagen made its debut in Kuala Lumpur a few months ago... Sheeshh... talk about brand loyalty..

Because most lenglui blogs has already reviewed this, it's only fair to give a share of sugar_cupcakes conclusion here... hohohoho...

Conclusion:

  • Tastes almost like CollagenMax but nicer
  • As usual, liquid collagen shows noticeable results with just a bottle in a couple of days
  • These days, a bottle in a week to a fortnight is enough for maintenance
  • 7000mg collagen in a bottle is more than enough...
  • If the price sticks to its RM149-RM159 for 10 bottles, this brand's a keeper
  • Though we'd still hate collecting glass bottles and feeling not too green...

Biogreen Pytho-Essence - Skin and Colon Food?

Again, I'm down with food allergy... This time, dairy is the main culprit. Been a couple of week of uncomfortable toilet trips and umm... hahaha... diarhoea all thanks to... cheese and cream... Okieess.... so when this happens... poor skin, hair and nails suffer the most!! Aiyooo.... I'm so-so sorry skin... the ravioli plates were too much to resists... sigh... I love ravioli with the tomato cream sauce... haahhahahaa... even if it spells danger-danger to poor lactose intolerant stomach... How now brown cow???!!! haihhhhh...

Remember my posts on Bioxil, Juvanex and all the detox product thingi?? Since they all work on the almost similar principal of fibre, prebiotics and probiotics to help flush out the accumulated toxins and acidity, lets go for Biogreen Phyto-Essence Skin and Colon Foods this time round. Lets just see how it measure up to Bioxil and Juvanex. hohohoho....

Summarized info:

  • Product of Taiwan
  • Partially Organic ingredients (which I'm kinda skeptical about)
  • All natural ingredients that help detox your colon
  • Which eventually leads to nicer skin... as usual the claims are exaggerated... hahahhaa
  • What the hell... the prebiotics and probiotics are the ones that work and they ware the main ingredient I've been eyeing...

After 6 days of a once a day regime of  Biogreen Phyto-Essence:

  • Oh the stomach feels so much much better
  • Given the fact that the pre/pro biotics are working nicely (Hey, to those lengluis who can take dairy, vitagen is your yummiest bet)
  • Digestion is back to normal
  • Skin... umm... no new breakouts... but the old acne stays put...
  • Umm... But the cystic acne is shrinking... hohohoho...
  • Huuhuhuhu... please-please let the skin hair and nails go back to normal before the next dinner I have to attend... I wanna wear the cute off shoulder dress that's been sitting in the wardrobe for ages...
  • Lets wait for more reviews when iwannabelenglui complete the 450gm dose huh? lol...

Korean Sunseeds Natural Grain Powder - Where all pretty Korean Complexion comes from...

Claims to do good to your hair, skin.. body, mind and soul?

Can't believe its been almost 3 months since I've updated this blog... Oh noooo... I'm so sorry... Been crazy busy with the new job and stuff... You know how it gets... (--)"

From the telie... you see tonnes of beautiful korean chicks strutting around in dramas and movies. But really... if you've met a korean, you'd know... those pretty faces are just korean celebs... Common korean chicks are just like us... Normal plain looking women... However, most korean ladies I've met had one thing in common. Beautiful skin! So here goes... my quest for a clearer complexion...

Okay... I finished up 2 jar of this in about 2 months. Can't say for sure that it helped cleared up my skin or made my hair pretty... But yeah... I had acne on my neck for like 2 months and they weren't going anywhere no matter what I consumed or did. But 2 months later... they sorta cleared up... Probably its my own body immune kicking in... lol... So I'm not sure if Sunseeds actually helped with the acne thingi. But damn... it sure tastes good... lol... (btw.. individual preference on the taste...)

So yeah... the reason I'm updating this today is cos' I just bought another 2 jar from Jusco... its on promotion now... and it tastes and feel good (^^)" I'm such a sucker for this sorta stuff... lol...

Verdict:
  • Feels healthy cos then I wouldn't skip breakfast
  • Hey... its fiber that we need to help clear our intestines and thats where all your allergy and bad skin stems from
  • Tastes good... like some nice cereal drink... Don't know if its worth the price for a cereal drink... lol... but hey... I like it... so... why not?
  • This will not give you immediate result so don't get your hopes up high..
  • Claims to work wonders on skin and hair... Checkout their before-after pics (at the promo booth)... I'm not going to directly agree on that but... heck... if you've got at least 2 months and some money to spare... why not...? Fiber is always a good thing... (of course... don't overindulge in anything... too much of a good stuff is gonna be bad for you)

Skin Allergies? Lactose Intolerance? Welcome to my world - Bioxil Inner D-TOX

Pro-biotics and Pre-biotics...?

I came across this by accident when I walked into Asterspring beauty saloon which carries Dermalogica and Averine products. No, I didn't go there for facial.. I stop facial ages ago after realising my breakouts are caused by internal factors and, facial only makes things worse. I went there to get the Averine concealer... But... the Bioxil Inner-D range were displaying on the racks... and whoaaa.... NEW STUFF. **cooool!!** And, it claims to help skin problems due to allergies...! muahahaha...

And I did the predictable... Start bombarding the beautician there with questions... Hmm.. I think she's more of a sales rep than a beautician. Lol. Okay, so fine. I'll just have a go at it. It costs RM128 per box of 30 sachets. So I guess that's not too much to ask for since I keep "accidentally" ingest dairy products...

Conclusion:
  • You may take 1-2 sachet a day on an empty stomach
  • Dilute with water at room temperature
  • Tastes emm... surprisingly quite nice... like powdered room temperature unsweetened ice cream shake
  • Light pinkish coloured
  • Claims to have both prebiotics and probiotics that keeps your intestine happy
  • If you're lactose intolerant and have lots of stomach bloatedness or discomfort after ingesting dairy products, this may be worth a try. I seem to digest my food better after about 20 sachets...
  • I think my first box did help clear some blemishes... But I only saw results after one whole box... Then again... my nice clear skin then was probably because I was a good girl avoiding forbidden food... lol
  • I've been relying on this to help my stomach problem each time I ingest dairy products... So yeah... I've purchased several boxes over the years... Sometimes, you can get this at a lower price online... if there's a willing seller...
  • If you've already got nice clear skin and no stomach problem... don't waste your money. Go eat lots of fruits and veggies... Thats much better than ingesting some processed stuff like this

To beauty... To Apple Cider Vinegar (-_-)"

The ACV

Now, everyone's bound to rely on home remedies when off the shelves stuff don't work and becomes be costly. Yeah.. so I went and google up the Apple Cider Vinegar. Its been known to relieve gout, helps detoxify your body, control weight problems (in ancient egyptian times) and an overall good-for-your-body natural remedy.
But the only reason I decided to try this was........... because... I was having horrible acne breakouts from seafood allergy... sigh... (--)" I WANNA GET RID OF MY BLEMISHES>>>>
So... okay... I needn't even go and purchase this... a bottle of ACV's already sitting on the kitchen rack in the house. Now... I would really like to explain what's this vinegar all about and how it actually helps... but... lets just summarise my findings since anyone can google all this up :p
What do people say?
  • It's suggested that ACV has such curative abilities because it causes one's pH levels to become more alkaline. ACV has been known to relieve symptoms of allergies and gout.
  • Several small studies suggest that vinegar (both apple cider vinegar and other types) may help to lower glucose levels. Good for diabetics
  • Apple cider vinegar has become popular as a “fat-burner” and as a natural appetite suppressant. Historical facts show that ACV was used to weight loss in Egyptians.
  • The acidic nature of this vinegar has been said to help scalp problems such as dandruff, itchy scalp, baldness and thinning hair. ACV can also help gastric problems as well.
What I tried with it?
  • Tonic drink (2 teasspoon diluted with water each morning) - feels refreshing... must be cos' of the sour taste
  • Using it as a toner (1:1 water:ACV) to help clear my pimple - err... doesn't really seem to do much for my skin... skin probablyy smoothen a little... and I ended up smelling like ACV. Read this
  • Using it as a hair conditioner (1:1 water:ACV) - wow... works like a conditioner... but then again... I ended up smelling like ACV again... I think I'll stick to regular conditioners
My Conclusion...
  • Pretty good as a pick-me-up in the mornings
  • Seems to help my sinus too
  • No... it didn't get rid of my blemishes
  • The acidity seems to help tigthen my tummy in the mornings... so I think this would be good for people trying to lose a little weight on the tummy (but... this is not really a hard-core weight reducing remedy)
  • Other than that... research shows that ACV is really just a folk remedy. So its not all that tonic liquid everyone gushes about... More than that... I think... again... this is really a psychological thing. If you believe the ACV works for you... then it does!
